participate in ongoing broadcast appearances on international television and science programmes (including BBC The One Show (three appearances), Natural History Unit Insert, Discovery Channel and BBC Three) and radio as a scientific expert. I am also frequently quoted and interviewed in a variety of print and online media.
April 2009: Appearance on BBC One, The One Show – “sweating out toxins”
2008: Invited by The Wellcome Trust as scientific expert to be part of a panel in the session “Making Science and the Media Work: The Future of Collaboration” at the Sheffield Film Festival
2008: Won a competitive place on the Wellcome Trust/Documentary Filmmakers Group “Science on Film” training initiative
2008: Co-directed and co-produced a short film “Blood, Tears and Sweat” – a film showcasing the science behind why some people are bitten more than others by mosquitoes
2008: Awarded £10,000 from The Royal Society to produce and take part in a promotional film about science in Africa: “Worlds apart: united by science”. Co-producer and Co-director of the film, with Utopia Studios
2008: National Insect Week talk “Mosquitoes – the most deadly animals on the planet?”
2008 Quoted in BBSRC Business for promotion of BBSRC media training course
2007-present: Science Ambassador for SETPOINT – give talks and presentations as part of National Science Week at various local schools in Hertfordshire
2007-present: Writer of science articles for Biological Sciences Review - magazine aimed at A-level students
2007 Rothamsted Open Meeting talk – “Mosquitoes – the most deadly animals on the planet?” plus promotional local radio interviews for this event
