A recent survey published in Science (Peters et al., Science 321: 204-205, 11 Jul 2008) suggests that (1) interactions between scientists and the media are perhaps more common than people previously thought and (2) a majority of scientists are actually happy with recent coverage of their work (and only a small minority - 6% - were dissatisfied with it in the survey).
Communicating with the media is not a risk-free enterprise and some researchers are understandably wary of media interactions. So what do you think? For example, have your experiences with the media been positive? Or, if you haven't interacted with the media before, are you wary or keen - and why?
