"Direct" engagement includes activities such as public lectures, roadshow events etc. But what works and what doesn't, when it comes to talking directly to the public? This group is a place to share ideas, experience and information about opportunties and support.
I'm not sure whether this belongs in the Direct Engagement or New Media group (probably both, actually)--but just wanted to let you know that Jon Copley is experimenting with using Twitter (a kind of micro-blog) as a form of public outreach. He's on a research ship in the Southern Ocean, and you can sign up follow his "tweets" here, or just keep an eye on the Twitter widget I've posted on the main page. Comments/ feedback welcome! I'll blog in more detail tomorrow.
